Handsworth Boss Savours Team’s Success

Team Manager of Handsworth,Tajudeen Olasunkanmi has expressed satisfaction with the performance of his team in the opening match of the Ogun State Challenge Cup held on Tuesday at the MKO Abiola Stadium,Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Handsworth defeated Jojo Football Club 2-0 to reach the second round of the tournament.

Quadri Aladeokin’s two goals were all Handsworth FC needed to send their opponents parking in an encounter watched by a large crowd.

Olasunkanmi, who spoke to GSG on phone after the encounter, said the match was tough but was happy that his team were able to overcome their opponents.

“Our opponents gave us a good fight, the match was keenly contested but I was impressed with the determination and doggedness of my players which earned us victory in the encounter,” he said.

Olasunkanmi warned the players not to be complacent in their next game, saying that it will be a disaster if the team crash out in the second round.

“Our target is to play in the final of this year’s Ogun FA Cup. We don’t need to celebrate yet because we still have a long way to go in the competition. I think the players are aware of the challenges before them and I expect them to win their next game come Saturday,” he said.

In his own reaction, the goal scorer, Aladeokin said his two goals will motivate him to score more in their subsequent matches.

He dedicated the goals to his teammates, saying that without them the team would not have won the game.
