Top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, have disclosed that star forward Ahmed Musa will be allowed to rejoin his Dutch club as promised by the federation.

Musa was the stand-out star on Monday as the Flying Eagles defeated world champions Ghana 2-1 in their opening Group B match of the African Youth Championship (AYC).

“We will not stand in the way of the player from returning to his club because that was the agreement we reached with his club,” said Nasir Jubrin, a top NFF official.

“We want to cultivate a good understanding with VVV Venlo because we will need the player for not just the Under-20 team but also the Super Eagles and why not even the Olympic team?”

However, the agreement between the Dutch club and the NFF allows for the player to return to South Africa next week once the Flying Eagles have qualified for the semi-finals of the AYC.

There has been a long drawn drama over Musaâ€s availability for the AYC before the player finally joined up with Nigeriaâ€s under-20 team last Sunday night in time for the titanic clash against rivals Ghana.

At the weekend, Venlo almost held back the player from coming down to South Africa when they insisted that he must be accompanied to Johannesburg by a minder provided by them but whose bills will be picked up by the NFF.
