While many Nigerians are commending the performance of Super Eagles under the coaching crew, led by Samson Siasia, ex-Nigerian international, Emeka Ezeogu still regards them as local champions, who cannot hold their heads high on the global stage.
Ezeogu, former Eagles defender said on Brila F.M. early today that Nigerians should not be carried away by the victories achieved by the Eagles within the short time that Siasia, Austin Eguavoen and other teams. In his words, the performance of the coaching crews of the Eagles, U-23 Eagles and Flying Eagles fall below the standard expected of world class teams.
According to Ezeogu, the national teams may be doing well under these coaches, but when it comes to the international level, the results would not be as good.
He described the current Eagles’ coaches as local champions, who will find it very difficult to make headway when the chips are down.
Ezeogu, who predicted doom for the national teams under the present coaches, cautioned that if the senior national team must stand tall among the highly rated football nations of the world, their coaches have a lot of work to do to increase the standard of play of the Eagles and other teams.
