As the kick off date for the Balogun Soccer Championship draws nearer, cup donor and former Lagos Head of Civil Service, Yakub Balogun has promised to reward all participating teams financially.
Match co-ordinator, Afolabi Onanaike, who spoke on behalf of the cup donor, said Balogun intends to use the competition to celebrate his victory if elected into the Federal House of Representatives. He is contesting on Lagos Island Constituency II come this weekend under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria Party ACN.
“ I’m happy to announce to all participating teams that the cup donor has promised to give participating teams appearance money. Apart from this, the finalists will be kitted with new jersey.This kind gesture will help youths on Lagos Island to take part in the competition,†she said.
Onanaike popularly known as AFO disclosed that only the teams that fall in the Lagos Island Constituency II are eligible to take part in the competition that will involve 16 teams.
“The cup donor has instructed me to invite the teams from his constituency to take part in the competition. Don’t forget that Hon. Balogun want to use the competition to reach youths and thank them for their support to achieve his political ambition’ he noted.
