The police stationed at the Waff Road Roundabout, otherwise known as NEPA roundabout, nabbed two suspected thieves who specialised in snatching money from bank customers in Kaduna.

The two robbery suspects met their waterloo at about 1.30pm today after they allegedly snatched N250,000 from a female customer who had just withdrawn the money from the Skybank ,located on Ahmadu Bello, by NEPA roundabout.

 

According to eye witnesses who spoke to P.M.NEWS, luck ran out on them when passers-by that were around the woman raised alarm immediately after the two men on motorcycle (Okada) snatched the money.

 

Usman Sule, an Okada rider and eyewitness narrated: “One of the thieves was on okada while the other standing snatched the woman’s bag and immediately mounted the bike and zoomed off “.

 

He further hinted that before they got to the roundabout the police had been alerted and they were arrested.

 

However, while the thieves were detained at the Skybank premises, where the money was snatched from the wailing customer, hundreds of Okada riders besieged the bank demanding to kill the thieves they alleged usually hide under guise of riding Okada to rob bank customers along Ahmadu Bello Way.

Another Okada rider told P.M.NEWS that they are tired and sick of people indicting okada riders, that was why they wanted to kill the ones arrested.

 

But after a while, armed policemen in a Peugeot 504 stormed the bank premises and picked the two men away to the police headquarters for interrogation.

 

The Okada riders cried foul as they alleged that the police would release them later.
