I Opened MAAN's First Bank Account, Says Babs @ 50

The CEO of Babs Music and Video Company, Lagos, Alhaji Dauda Adewale Babalola populary known as Babs, has disclosed that he opened the first bank account for Music Advertisers Association of Nigeria (MAAN), while he held sway as the Lagos State governor.

The music promoter, who turns 50 on Monday, 4 April, made the disclosure to P.M. Entertainment while highlighting the programme for an elaborate event to celebrate the occasion scheduled for Glorious Hall, Abule Egba, Lagos, on Saturday, 30 April, 2011.

According to the three-time governor of Lagos State MAAN, “I modernised the governance of MAAN, introduced identity pass and membership certificate to identify authentic members during my tenure as governor. Besides, I also introduced engagement of professional legal service to guide our operations while I opened the first bank account for the association.”

Alhaji Babalola, a trained technician, worked briefly in the maintenance department of Dunlop Nigeria Plc and was three times the governor of Lagos State MAAN and former general secretary of Association of Gramophone Records Distributors (AGRED).

A strong anti-piracy crusader, he is presently the second vice president of Nigeria Association of Recording Industry.

The Ikija, Abeokuta, Ogun State-born music promoter is the Osupa Adini of Aboru Central Mosque and has released more than 120 albums on his label, Babs Music and Video Company.

Works of artistes released on his label include those of Muideen Aremu Kamulansa, Alhaji Wasiu Kayode As-sidiq, Wasiu Ajani Tekoye, Bayo Akanni Ojuyobo, Shefiu Alao, Kollington Ayinla, Shina Akanni, Basiratu Iya-n’Ghana and the late Rashidi Samento.

Others are Mutiu Kekere Awori, Atinuke Obanla, Mustapha Kozeem, Sherif Iyanda, Pelemo Bro-Bro, Alhaji Tajudeen Adisatawo and Evangelist Esther Oluyemi.
