Plumber Docked For Shooting 3 Policemen

A 27-year old plumber, Peter Adeboye, has been arraigned by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, Panti Lagos, South-West Nigeria before an Ebute-Metta magistrate’s court Ebute-Metta.

It was gathered that Adeboye shot three policemen, ASP Daniel Owobu, CPL Lasisi Adedayo, PC Afolabi Victor on 13 February 2011 at about 1:30am at Ogunjobi street, off Ikorodu Road, Fadeyi, Lagos.

He was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted murder.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, Sergeant Paul Inedu, is punishable under Section 516, 320 of the Criminal Code Cap C 17 Vol. II Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

Count two of the charge reads: “That you Peter Adeboye and others still at large on 13 February 2011 at about 1:30am at Ogunjobi Street, off Ikorodu Road, Fadeyi, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, with intent to kill did unlawfully attempt to kill ASP Daniel Owobu, CPL Lasisi Adedayo, PC Afolabi Victor by shooting them with a gun and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 320 of the Criminal Code Cap C 17 Vol. II Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.”

He pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate Miss Folashade Kayode granted him bail in the sum of 200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She further ordered that the sureties must show evidence of livelihood and tax payment to Lagos State Government.

The case has been adjourned till 6 April 2011.
