Super Eagles’ goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu, is sad about the injury that stopped the team’s first choice goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama from honouring Sunday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia.

“We are really sad that Eyeama cannot make it to this match. I spoke with him and he told me that he had to take some drugs to enable him play last weekend’s match for his club in Israel, but he had to be stopped because the drug may contain some banned substances,” said the former Nigerian international.

Shorunmu, however, believes that Dele Aiyenugba can be a good replacement for Enyeama. He noted that Aiyenugba’s performance at the last international friendly match against Sierra Leone in Lagos is a testimony to the stuff he is made of.

“In Enyeama’s place, Dele will step in. We have a capable replacement in him and we are sure to get the best from him during the match against Ethiopia,” he said.

He also maintained that Aiyenugba will be ably assisted by Sunday Rotimi who was invited recently to join the team.

“Those two goalkeepers are okay for us, we are not going to invite any other goalkeeper to join the team,” he said.
