The decision of Confederation of African Football, CAF, to shift the African Youth Championship, AYC, earlier scheduled to hold in troubled Libya to a yet to be named venue would provide an ample opportunity for the Flying Eagles of Nigeria to prepare well for the tourney. This remark was made by a member of the U-20 team, Abduljelil Ajagun, who doubles as a player of Dolphins FC of Port-Harcourt. He bares his mind in this online interview with ADEBOBOLA ALAWODE

Good day, how will you describe the Flying Eagles’ training tour ?

The training tour was a good one. I would like to thank the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for giving us the opportunity to hone our football skills.

The team played some friendly matches, how will you rate the teams you played against?

I must confess that the tune-up matches we played were competitive in terms of the opposition we encountered. Some of our opponents gave us a run for our money but thank goodness, we were able to overcome them.

Of all the friendlies that the team played, which was the most difficult for you?

There are no longer easy matches. All our matches weren’t easy for us. Our opponents know Nigeria is a good football playing nation, so they didn’t want us to defeat them.

The Nigerian team were lucky, as you guys left just before trouble started in Libya, what really happened?

You have said it all that we were just lucky. It was mother luck that saved us, if not we would have been trapped in that war-torn country now.

We were already in Turkey, when we heard the news. We actually received it with mixed feelings. Despite everything, we believe it will give us an ample opprtunity to prepare better for the tournament.
