Kaita Laments Over Exclusion From Eagles' List

Sani Kaita has expressed disappointment over his exclusion from the Nigerian squad against Ethiopia, but added he has taken coach Samson Siasia’s decision in good faith.

“Sincerely speaking, as a professional I’m disappointed and feel bad to have been  left out of the match against Ethiopia but I would still wish the team the very best in the game,” Kaita told MTNFootball.com from his base in Greece.

“I do not wish to argue whether or not I have been forgiven by Nigerians for the red card against Greece in the World Cup.

“What is obvious is that Siasia picks the team and I respect his decision not to include me for this match,”

Kaita added that he now looks forward to being considered for the Eagles subsequent matches. The reverse fixture between Nigeria and Ethiopia in Addis Ababa will be played early in June.

Siasia told a press briefing last Thursday that the former Kano Pillars star would be recalled once his new team are settled.

“Let’s get the team working and let’s see how Nigeria will see the team doing. When we are playing very well, we can try to bring him and even Yakubu Aiyegbeni in,” promised Siasia.

“But for now we don’t have a team. We are rebuilding but gradually if we start playing well, Nigerians won’t say anything (against Kaita).”
