Anglican Church Holds Service For Professionals

St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Coker, Diocese of Lagos Mainland, has concluded plans to hold a service for professionals in the country.

The service tagged ‘Service of Colours’ comes up on Sunday, 10 March, 2011 at their parish and will witness members of the congregation wearing different professional attires to worship that day.

The Vicar of the church, Venerable Okeye C. Madu, explained that the mode of worship that day will entail members of professional bodies wearing their uniforms. They are also expected to come to the service with their tools of trade.

Explaining further, he said a lawyer is expected to come to the service with his wig and gown; doctor, a stethoscope and white overall; policeman in his uniform; LASTMA and the soldiers will also come in their uniforms.

He described the mode of worship as strange but quickly added that it was in line with divine direction.

He explained that it was necessary to pray for the nation, stressing that by worshipping in their professional attires, all facets of the society of the society will be affected.

He said the service will motivate the youths to seek a particular profession by watching members of the congregation in their uniforms worshipping.

Invited guests include the wife of the former governor of Lagos State, Chief (Mrs.) Remi Tinubu, top military officers and police brass, LASTMA officials, among others.

Ven. Madu stated further that the worship was to provide alternatives for those who are seeking the face of God to excel in their chosen professions.
