Five men have been arraigned before a Cele Magistrate’s Court, Isolo, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, for allegedly conspiring to commit misdemeanour.
The men, Cletus Okoro Aja, 51; Uchenna Aloke Wisdom, 21; Emeka John Ifere, 27; Orji Amuchechukwu, 24 and Francis Okah Abuchi, 28 were alleged to have assaulted a 16-year old girl and another seven-year old by touching their private parts.
The offences are punishable under Section 517 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C.17, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
Count one of the charges reads: “That you, Cletus Okoro Aja, Uchenna Aloke Wisdom, Emeka John Ifere, Orji Amuchechukwu, Francis Okah Abuchi on 27 February, 2011 at Ago-Okota area of Mushin Magisterial District did conspire to commit misdemeanour, to wit, indecent assault on one Chinoye Francis Orji, 7 by touching her private parts.
Count two reads: ”That you, Cletus Okoro, Uchenna Aloke Wisdom, Emeka John Ifere, Orji Amuchechukwu and Francis Okah Abuchi at the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did indecently assault one Chinyere Orji, 16 by touching her private parts and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 222 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
The case has been adjourned till 4 April, 2011.
