Trader In Court For 419

A 50-year-old trader, Oladele Olulowo was on Monday charged before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly obtaining N607,500 from a co-trader with pretence.

Olulowo is standing trial before Magistrate (Mrs.) F.V. Davies-Abegunde, on a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Peter Nwagwu, told the court that the offence was committed on Nov. 25, 2010 at Lekki, Lagos.

Nwagwu said that the accused and two others at large, collected the sum of N607,500 from one Mrs. Bunmi Idowu with the pretext of supplying her diesel.

He said that the accused knew that the representation was false.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 390(9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Davies-Abegunde granted the accused N250,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till March 25 for mention.
