KAI Disowns Suspected Rapist

The Kick Against Indicipline, KAI, the enforcement arm of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment, Alausa, Ikeja Lagos, has disowned a man, Ayodele Gbenga, 36, who is standing trial before an Isolo Magistrate Court in Lagos for alleged incest with his daughter for about eight years. KAI said he was never an official of the agency.

Captain Danjuma Meigeri (retd), the KAI Marshal-General made this known during an interview with P.M.NEWS at his Alausa office.

The KAI boss said “I do not have such a person in KAI, and he has never been in KAI. And if he had been in KAI, it should be the disbanded KAI, not the present KAI under my leadership.

“For the past one year, we have flushed out bad eggs in the KAI and for such person tos till claimed to be a KAI official is impersonation because he is not one of us, he was never in the service of KAI Brigade.”

Ayodele Gbenga who resides at 12, Oseni Street, Okota, Lagos State was arrested when he threatened to kill his daughter with a knife for refusing him sex. He was reported to have claimed to be an official of KAI, during his interrogation by the police from Isolo Division. He also confessed that he has raped his daughter severally.

Ayodele was later arraigned before an Isolo Magistrate’s Court on a rape related charge but he pleaded not guilty.

The trial magistrate, Mrs. E Kubanje, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned till 31 March, 2011 for trial.

He was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos as he could not meet the bail condition in good time.
