NIJ Alumni Holds Symposium

The alumni of Nigerian Institute of Journalism, NIJ, is organising a symposium tomorrow at the premises of the school in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.

The symposium with the theme: “Necessity of An Impeccable Judiciary To A Sustainable Democracy,” will be chaired by Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye of the University of Lagos,UNILAG.

Speakers expected at the event are renowned lawyer and activist, Bamidele Aturu, Dupe Ajayi Gbadebo, Publicity Secretary of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Alhaji Lai Muhammed and Richard Akinnola, SAN.

Secretary of the alumni, Mrs. Olufunke Fadugba, in a statement said: “The symposium is our contribution to the deepening of Nigeria’s democracy.”

The former chairperson of the Lagos chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, NUJ, disclosed further, “we shall also be handing over computers to NIJ’s library. This is one of several things we are planning to do for the NIJ as part of our own contribution to the development of the school.”

Before the symposium, the executive officers of the Lagos chapter of the NIJ alumni will be sworn in by the National President. The officers include Chairman, Afolayan Johnson; Secretary, Jide Apete; Treasurer, Azeez Hassan; Financial Secretary, Bola Adekunle; Social Secretary, Ladapo Labisi; Organising Secretary, Wale Oredipe; Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Adelu and Adviser, Felix Jonas.
