TY Bello, the multi-talented musician and photographer, who lit up the music scene with her debut album, Green Land and smash hit anthem, The Land is Green, is back on the scene with a brand new single, The Future.
The single, which is currently enjoying fair air play on major radio stations across the country, is vintage TY, a former member of an all-girls group, KUSH.
Explaining the story behind the new work, TY said: “I had committed to writing a jubilee song for Nigeria. I was moved to hone in on my message on 31 December, 2010, when we were shocked by the Abuja bombings. In my view, the bombings are a metaphor of the hopelessness and impending tragedy that may lie ahead if we do not become more engaged in building the country we desire.
“I realise that the crisis in the nation is beyond political. We each need to personalise ‘Project Nigeria’ and take a stand for Nigeria now. And so, the first line of the song is about just how important we are as a generation at this time in our history. My hope is that as you listen to this song, you are stirred and realise that the future that we dream of is not way ahead of us. By looking within now, we draw in that future. One action, one person at a time. We must embrace the moment. I leave you with the words of my friend, Fela Durotoye, ‘deliver the future.’ We can. We must. We will.â€
Showbiz Trends learnt that the video for The Future will be directed by equally talented Kemi Adetiba and filmed on Sunday, 27 February 2011.
The song was written and performed by TY Bello, while it was produced, mixed and mastered by M.O.S.A and the background vocals by Nwando Okeke and Mosa Adegboye.
