The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has cleared the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos to play host to matches in the topflight again after it was banned due to outbreak of unrest in the city in December 2010.
The stadium in Jos is the home ground of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) Football Club and Plateau United, who have been playing at stadia in Kaduna and Enugu respectively.
JUTH and Plateau United are expected to play their next home games in the topflight in Jos with effect from Week 16.
In a statement released on Monday, the Premier League said it is acting upon a letter received from the Special Task Force in Plateau State dated 4 February, 2011 on the guarantee that security has improved in the troubled central Nigerian city.
The statement read: “NPL upon receiving a letter of security guarantee duly signed by Captain I. Sule, the Commander of the Special Task Force and a supporting letter from the Plateau State Football Association signed by Yilkat Emmanuel dated 4 February, 2011, approved the relocation of both teams (Juth and Plateau United) to their home ground with effect from Week 16 of the 2010/2011 league season.â€
The NPL, however, listed three areas in Plateau State – Forest roundabout, Jengre and Babale – as places where teams coming into Jos should be met by the team of the Special Task Force.
