A driver, Gideon Habila, 30, on Tuesday appeared before an Abuja Magistrate’s Court charged with careless and inconsiderate driving.
Prosecuting Police Officer, Cpl. Isiaka Raheem, told the court that the accused from Efab Estate, Area II, drove a car marked GC203ABC, which rammed into another vehicle and damaged it.
He said that the damaged car, marked HN693ABC, belonged to one Samson Adebayo of Society for Family Health.
Raheem said that the accused drove on a highway in Central Business District, Abuja, without due care and attention and hit Adebayo’s car.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Road Traffic Act.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the prosecutor asked for a date for hearing based on the accused denial of the offence.
The accused applied to the court through his lawyer to grant him bail.
The prosecutor said he had no objection to the application, saying it was at the court’s discretion to grant bail.
Magistrate Abdullahi Aminu granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case to March 17 for hearing.
