Nigerian international Rabiu Afolabi has explained the rationale behind his donation of customised books to schools in Osun State, South West Nigeria.

The Red Bull Salzburg star, who recently set upa foundation to assist schools in the country donated 50,000 books worth about $20,000 to selected public primary and secondary schools in his home state of Osun State.

“Education is key to human development. It remains the only viable legacy that parents should give their children. This explains my emphasis on using the foundation to assist millions of Nigerian youths who are desirous of going to school but lack the means.” the Nigeria World Cup star informed mtnfootball.com. Afolabi said had he enjoyed such assistance as he is now providing to these schools, his schooling would have been a lot easier.

“My schooling would have been much easier had I got this type of assistance when I was growing up. That is why I have decided to give back to those who cannot afford to pay their way to school,” he said.
