Niger Tornadoes chairman, Suleiman David, has vowed that the team’s home ground, Bako Kotangora Stadium, Minna will never again come under the sledge hammer of the Premier League board.
Tornadoes resumed playing at their home turf at the weekend with a heartwarming 1-0 win over Gombe United in the week 15 duel after weeks of sojourn in Kaduna.
Chinedu Moses’ first half free kick goal gave Tornadoes a life line.
Suleiman, who described their weeks of wandering as better imagined than experienced, told SuperSport.com that they have returned to the Bako Kotangora stadium, Minna for good and vowed never to create a condition that will make the board ban them from using the stadium again.
“In Niger State we have integrity, we will never betray the trust put in us by the league board by lifting the ban and allowing us to use the stadium.
“We will never repeat the mistake that made the Premier League board to sanction us.
“We are happy to be home once again, our fans who have been denied league actions are happy and I think everybody is alive once again to their responsibilities as far as the maintenance of the pitch is concerned.â€
The former Nigeria Football Association (NFA) board member who still frowned at the position of the Minna side on the league log said their first victory on their return to their home ground will surely change the fortune of the team.
“You will agree with me that we have been denied the privilege of home ground, we actually have been playing at away and it affected our fortune badly.
“The joy of picking our first win on returning home will shape a lot of things for us.
“However, our position is not a good one, we are not comfortable yet, but I am hopeful that things will start to change for us right now,†he said.
