Lagos Island FC (Eko Akete) came into their previous game against Ikoyi Obalende at Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos with a determination to win the match.
Muyiwa Saseyi of Lagos Island scored from a perfectly executed training pitch free kick routine in the 4th minute of play to throw their fans into the right mood.
Eko Akete Boys truly convinced the crowd that their victory over Apapa FC in their last match was not a fluke as they systematically rip apart the Ikoyi Obalende’s defence in a manner not befitting their position on the league standing. Ace striker Mahmud Sylla coolly slotted in his team’s second goal in the 25th minute.
Ikoyi Obalende came out forcefully in the second half and their effort paid off. They scored their lone goal of the match through a penalty shootout scored by Donald Daniel.
The game was put out of Ikoyi’s reach in the 80th minute when Lagos Island’s Akeem Olabinjo scored his team’s third goal. It was another convincing win for the Eko Boys but will it be enough to get them a spot in the Premier League in August?
