The recent cult clashes between cult groups in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, have taken a new dimension, as the cultists have extended their war to other towns in Ijebu area.

Other Ijebu towns like Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu-Oru, Ijebu-Ilese, Ijebu-Mushin, Ijebu-Ife and Idowa have recently witnessed cult hostilities.

The clashes by the cult groups have forced residents to embark on self-imposed curfew. Shops and markets in these towns now close as early as 6 p.m.

According to a source, members of Eiye Confraternity have been the major target, as the Aiye and Alora groups have joined forces to confront them.

P.M.NEWS investigation revealed that since a member of Alora named Saheed Gbegba was slain, his colleagues in the group have been desperate for revenge. They, therefore, teamed up with the Aiye group to fight the Eiye Confraternity members.

It was gathered that the cult boys have planned to disrupt social activities in all parts of Ijebu-land.

Residents have therefore appealed to the relevant authorities to save the Ijebu communities from the cult groups.

Meanwhile, some shops and markets in Ijebu-Ode have remained shut since the cultists struck in the town a few days ago.
