Chairman of Niger Tornadoes, Suleiman David believes the defence of his team was responsible for the scandalous 0-3 defeat at Sharks last weekend.
He says the team should blame selves for their heaviest defeat in the hands of Nigeria’s reigning sub-regional tournament, WAFU kings, Sharks FC of Port Harcourt in the week 14 duel decided at the Sharks stadium, Port Harcourt.Tornadoes were beaten 3-0 by Sharks.
Describing the 3-0 loss in Rivers State, the boss said it was the worst away defeat suffered by the team in the 2010/2011 Premier League.
“My boys played very well but conceded cheap goals. There was lack of communication in the defence line and poor anticipation. Sharks were up by 1-0 in the first half only to come back in the second half to score two more goals. I must confess, my team were unsettled in the rear.
“Incidentally, we suffered our heaviest defeat in any away match as we did not score any goal in the match. We have always been scoring at least a goal in our past away matches,†he said on SuperSports.com.
The former Nigeria Football Federation, NFF member, believes Tornadoes’ woes will soon be over.
