Following the epileptic power supply to their community, residents of Oluwole, Adetayo Osho, Osanyinpeju, Sholanke, Banji Oluwole and Ibukun-Olu, all of Akoka-Gbari Community Development Association, Shomolu, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have appealed to the Power Holding Company Nigeria (PHCN) to come to their rescue by providing a new 500KVA transformer to support the existing one, which they said is over-loaded.
The community in a letter to the management of the PHCN, a copy of which was made available to Lagos Bulletin stated that: “Immediate resolution of this problem will no doubt rebuild strained relationships due to deprived power consumption, economic loss and mounting security threat, in the face of increasing tariff but degenerated electricity supply.â€
The community alleged that PHCN has refused to connect some houses on Sholanke street to an approved privately dedicated transformer, temporarily, which would have reduced the load-shedding and would have improved electricity supply.
The residents, who were represented by Elder Omodara, Comrade Bolaji Balogun, Comrade Tunde James, Engr. J. O. Seton and Dr. O. Frank, appealed to Engineer O. Akamnonu, the Chief Executive Officer, PHCN, Ikeja, Engineer Chris Okonkwo and the Business Manager, Shomolu District, to use their good offices to look into the problem and install the 500 KVA transformer to bail the community out of their present predicament.
