The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it made a total of 541 seizures in 2010.
According to a statement signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent Ernest Olottah, the seizures have a duty paid value (DPV) of N446,953,886.40.
Aside the seizures, the command generated N5.4 billion as against the N6 billion revenue target for 2010. The amount generated last year, however, reveals an increase of 46.5 per cent when compared to N3.7 billion made in 2009.
The feat, according to the statement, was made possible through the various administrative and operational strategies introduced by the Area Controller, Comptroller Kura Maitama.
Comptroller Maitama has vowed that the command will not relent, but, rather, pursue vigorously, the cardinal objectives of the Comptroller-General’s six-point agenda,â€Â Olottah said.
