At least 15 persons are feared dead as their boat capsized at the Nembe creek in the deep coastal area of Bayelsa State.
They were on their way to Nembe to participate in the voter registration exercise when the incident happened. Nembe is part of the constituency of the Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva.
Although report about the boat mishap was still sketchy, P.M.NEWS gathered that the body of one of the deceased had been recovered, while the whereabouts of others remain unknown.
The Bayelsa Police Command Public Relations officer, Emokpae Eguavon, confirmed the incident in Yenagoa, the state capital, but declined to give further details.
Meanwhile, the state government has declared today, Friday as public holiday for workers to travel home and participate in the voter registration exercise.
