Mock Nations Cup: Fashola To Grace Final

Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria is expected to  grace the final of the 25th Mock Nations Cup on Sunday at the Navy Playground,  Apapa, Lagos State.

The Mock Nations Cup, which is organised by Apapa Youth Football Association, is  sponsored by the Lagos State government with support from the Office of the Senior  Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to the Governor headed by Prince  ‘Wale Oladunjoye.

P.M.Sports gathered that Malawi and Zimbabwe will slug it out in the final on Sunday  by 4 p.m. The third place match, which is scheduled for Saturday, will be a fierce  battle between Morocco and Ghana.

Governor Fashola is the Special Guest of Honour and he is expected to lead members  of the state’s Executive Council to watch the best of youth soccer in display.

Other dignitaries expected at the event are Sports Commissioner, Prince Adeniji  Adele,  Chairman of the Sports Council, Agboola Dabiri and his board members.   Chairman of the Lagos Football Association, Mr. Seyi Akinwunmi, will also lead  members of his board to the event.

Organisers have also sent invitations to some footballers lovers  for the final  ceremony.

Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, MOC, who is also the chairman of Apapa  Youth Football Association, Henry Nwosu, MON, has told P.M.Sports that the event  would be colourful with a lot of side attractions.

Based on the performance of the finalists from the first round of the grassroots  championship, Prince Oladunjoye said the final will be explosive . “Malawi and  Zimbabwe really justified their place in the final. I believe the best team will  carry the day,” said Prince Oladunjoye.

It was gathered that a total prize money of N1m which included trophies and medals  will be given to winners.

The Mock Nations Cup  is a championship that have produced national and  international stars like  Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia,  Henry Nwosu, Gabriel  Okolosi and Tarila Okorowanta, among other.
