The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Housing, Hon. Jimoh Ajao, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not only to extend the registration of voters’ exercise but also provide more DDC machines to make the exercise successful.
Ajao, who spoke with Political Platform in Ikeja, noted that it is rather ironic that while the people are enthusiastic and eager to register, they are being prevented from doing so by inadequate and faulty DDC machines.
“I’m quite impressed with the turnout of people for the exercise. It is really encouraging. However, I’m not impressed by the performance of INEC as people are getting frustrated with the exercise, no thanks to INEC’s faulty machines,†he said.
Ajao started that while there is a need for the exercise to be extended, there is also a need for the provision of efficient DDC machines. “If the exercise is extended, I’m in support, and INEC should also provide efficient DDC machines. The extension will be meaningless if what we have at the registration centres are faulty machines,†he said.
Ajao, former chairman of Igando Ikotun Local Council Development Area appealed to the people to ensure that they register to vote.
