There are strong indications that the Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, has ordered Lagos State Police Commissioner, Marvel Akpoyibo, to vacate his duty post following his redeployment.
Sources told our reporter that the order became necessary, following pressure on the IGP by some notable government officials, over the implications of Akpoyibo continuing to flout his re-deployment
According to our sources, the Lagos Police boss is to immediately hand over to Solomon Arase, a Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Our reporter further learnt that the handing over ceremony is to hold soon at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, Southwest, Nigeria.
Akpoyibo is expected to proceed for a course in February at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, near Jos.
In a related development, Frank Mba, police spokesman for Lagos State, is speculated to be preparing his hand over note. He is to proceed to the Anti-Fraud Unit in Abuja. Samuel Jinadu, the deputy police public relations officer in Lagos State has been tipped to take over from Mba
When P.M.NEWS contacted Mba this morning, he said he was not aware of his transfer or that of his boss.
He said there had been speculation in that regard for some time now and that such transfers emanate from Police Headquarters in Abuja.
