The Chairman of Ifako-Ijaye Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mr. Ademola Doherty, has appealed to the people of the area to exercise patience with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials and demonstrate understanding in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
He said this while flagging off of the exercise at Keke Junior Grammar School in the area.
Residents of the area had earlier complained over the slow pace of the exercise, especially in the areas of system hanging, delay in finger print scanning and printing out of voter’s slip, among others.
But the chairman calmed them and informed that representation had been made to INEC to rectify the hiccups to ensure that every body who has attained 18 years of age and above is given the opportunity to register.
Doherty, together with top council officials and party chieftains, had engaged in a sensitisation exercise, mobilising people through house-to-house campaign and distribution of customised handbills, flyers and posters, to ensure that residents take part in the registration exercise.
