The lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, Joseph Jayeola Ajatta, has said he felt fulfilled with the achievements he recorded during his eight-year tenure in the National Assembly.
He stated that his election since 2003 gave him the opportunity to empower the people and attract massive projects to his constituency.
Speaking at a “Thank You†reception which he hosted for his constituents and members of Jayeola Ajatta Campaign Organisation (JACO) in his constituency office at Ajao Estate, Lagos, on Sunday, Ajatta noted that what he found more rewarding was the fact that the people recognised and appreciated his contribution.
He observed that when JACO was formed in 2003, it was premised on his conviction that he would not let the people of his constituency down.
“We had our road map of the things we wanted to achieve for our people and to the glory of God, our scorecard showed that in the first four years, we exceeded our set target,†he said, explaining that it was because of this that he was given a return ticket to continue to serve the constituency in 2007.
He enumerated some of the dividends of democracy which he attracted to various parts of his constituency to include 19 transformers, four motorised power bore holes, eight solar-powered bore holes, five hand pump bore holes, completion of the General Post Office in Isolo, two blocks of three classrooms, street lighting and construction of NNPC Road in Ejigbo.
Others, according to him, are provision of computer training through which more than 19,000 students have benefited free of charge, women and youth empowerment programmes, completion of Ajao Estate PHCN substation, provision of desks and benches to primary schools and distribution of food items.
In addition to all these, he said there are ongoing projects which include five bore holes, three health centres, four transformers and street lighting.
Meanwhile, representatives from 13 wards in the constituency have paid glowing tributes to the lawmaker for redefining political representation, saying he had set a precedent that would be difficult to meet in the constituency.
Some of the representatives, including Evangelist Gabriel Akintade of Oke Afa Ward, Prince Paul Onuoha of Aigbaka Ward, Ejigbo, Kemi Omodara from Fadu Ward, Ejigbo; Mr. Akanbi from Ward F, Ishagatedo; Mr. Ndubuisi Nwachukwu and Mrs. Afolabi from Ward F2, Ilasamaja, urged Ajatta not to disband JACO, but retain it as a political and education forum.
