Two suspects, Azeez Onabanjo, 25, and Folusho Olusegun, 25 have been arrested by the police in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria for allegedly raping their friend’s 18-year old girlfriend.
Azeez was alleged to have lured the victim (names withheld) into Folusho’s house at 15B, Salami Owolabi Street, on the false pretence of getting her a job.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the victim fell into their trap when she told them that she was looking for a part-time job.
On the day of the incident, it was learnt that Azeez called her and informed her that he had gotten a job for her, adding that she should come so that he could take her to the place.
The victim, not suspecting anything because she knew Azeez as a friend of her boyfriend, followed him to Folusho’s house. The suspects locked the door and forced her to remove her dress.
When she refused their request, she was reportedly beaten mercilessly before she was raped.
She went back home and told her parents what happened and the matter was reported at the Ikotun Police Station. The defendants were arrested and taken to the court.
When the charge was read to them, they pleaded not guilty and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. S.O. Solebo granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties.
The matter has been adjourned till 10 January, 2011 while the defendants were remanded in prison custody pending the fulfilment of their bail conditions.
