24th January, 2011
Friday, 21 January, 2010 was a bad day for Mushin Academicals as they were silenced by the team from Oshodi in a grudge Lagos Junior League encounter that ended 2-3.
The match began with both teams playing attacking football to the delight of the scanty crowd at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria.
Oshodi’s Akachukwu Daniel drew the first blood when he scored a beautiful goal through a powerful strike to put his side ahead in the first half. It took the Mushin Bombers only seven minutes to equalise through Eze Chike in jersey number 9. His header beat their opponents’ keeper.
Oshodi were more feasible in the game with their probing crosses and superior aerial abilities. These paid off for them in the 23rd minute when Samuel Timilehin scored his side’s second goal. Eze Chike of the Bombers equalised in the 30th minute of the half.
In the rest of the first half, Oshodi probed and prodded the Mushin backline, which refused to give in for the rest before the referee blew the half time whistle.
The second half was a firece battle as the two teams were not ready to settle for a draw. The winner, however, came in for the Oshodi boys when Stephen Brown who in the 75th minute netted the third goal with a powerful header that would make Mutiu Adepoju, former Super Eagles player green with envy.
Mushin were unable to pull another come back with the game ending in favour of Oshodi FC.
