The Federal Government has said it will not take any action on the death of former  Super Eagles defender, Uche Okafor, until the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI  submits its report.

It was gathered that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Odein Ajumogobia, SAN, said in  Abuja yesterday that the expected FBI report would determine Nigeria’s response to  Okafor’s death.

“It’s after the FBI report that the Federal Government can now step into the  matter,” Ajumogobia told supersport.com.

Okafor, who is expected to be buried in Nigeria next month, was said to have  committed suicide in his Dallas, Texas home on 7 January.

However the police said last week that they had not determined the cause of his  death after the Nigerian community in the US rejected the sucide report.

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Taoheed Adedoja, had earlier  urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get to the bottom of the matter.

“This young man was a true hero of Nigerian football, and everything must be done to  thoroughly investigate the circumstances of his death,” Adedoja said.

Okafor was part of the Super Eagles that won the 1994 Nations Cup in Tunisia.
