The Convener of Save Nigeria Group, SNG, and Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain  Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has dispelled newspaper reports that he had already  been picked as the running mate of General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

Buhari is running for the April presidential election on the platform of the  Congress for Progressive Change, CPC.

Speaking during a sermon in his church in Lagos yesterday, Pastor Bakare said he had  not joined any political party, let alone being picked as any presidential  candidate’s running mate.

He said the reports in the media were merely speculative and that he was not  contacted by the authors of such reports to authenticate what they reported.

Bakare, however, said he did not rule out the possibility of joining the political  fray if it was the will of God for him to do so, saying “let God’s will be done.”

He asked the congregation to pray fervently for him as these are indeed very trying  times for him.

In one of his sermons, he told his congregation late last year that among the  presidential candidates running for this year’s election, Buhari was the man with  unblemished record even as military head of state between 31 December 1983 and 26  August, 1985, and as chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund.

The pastor has used his Save Nigeria Group to mobilise Nigerians to participate  actively in the electoral process, particularly the ongoing voter registration  exercise and to vote in April and make their votes count.
