A chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Lagos State, Chief Tajudeen  Adio Jayesimi, has petitioned the police over an alleged threat to the life of his  family by an unknown person.

Chief Jayesimi, the Bashorun of Ipakodo-Ikorodu, Lagos, who made a copy of the  petition which was addressed to the Divisional Police Officer, Ilupeju Police  Station, available to P.M.NEWS described the threat as “a worrisome trend in the  nation’s political evolution.”

The petition dated January 14, 2011 among other things stated that: “On Friday  January 14, 2011, our client received a text message on his phone from cell phone  number 08026320694, which reads as follows:

“Bashorun, in fact, it is better not to have a leader than you. Even cat, rat and  dogs are better to follow. You use us as a ladder to reach up and later drop the  ladder, whatever you achieve in that leadership so shall it drop. Your children,  Oyinkansola and her sister are not safe. It is a promise, keep watching.”

The politician further said, “there is no way, I can trace this to anybody or  anywhere because whatever has been happening in my party has remained a party affair  over which I have no say.  The police should please come to my rescue.”
