Coach of Russia, Gift Igunbor Okunwa, says her team are favourite to win the ongoing Women Football Competition, WFC.

Okunwa said this after her team defeated Italy 1-0 on Tuesday at the National Stadium Hockey pitch, Surulere, Lagos State. With this victory, Russia have 13 points to book a place in the semi final which begins tomorrow.

Okunwa, who was impressed with her team performance, told GSG that her team are formidable and technically better than other teams in the competition. She said her team have not lost a match since the competition started, boasting that her coaching career will be dented if they fail to win the title.

“I want to use this competition to boost my coaching career and it will be sad if my team don’t win this competition. Only Italy will give me tough time and I have defeated them in group stage. I wish to meet them in the final,” he said.

Okunwa, who was a member of Super Falcons that went to FIFA Women World Cup in China, urged her players to remain steadfast and approach their semi final with all seriousness.
