The crisis rocking Nigerian football is far from over with the latest order of a Federal High Court to the Nigeria Police to enforce an earlier order restraining Alhaji Aminu Maigari and his executives from parading themselves as members of the board of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
In a definite hearing presided over by Justice Okon Abang, an order was issued to the Nigeria Police to restrain anyone from parading himself as a board member of the NFF.
“The court bailiff has been give an order to deliver to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Afiz Ringim, to effect the arrest of anyone parading himself as board member of the NFF, reports supersport.com.
It was gathered that the court bailiff had proceeded to Abuja yesterday afternoon to issue the order to the IGP today.
P.M.Sports learnt early today that the police high command is on standby, waiting to get the court order before it swings into action to enforce the court ruling.
“As soon as we officially receive the order, we have no choice than to follow it to the letter by ensuring that the court order is strictly complied with. We’ll swing into action immediately,†a Police source said.
President of the NFF, Maigari, disclosed that he is in the dark as regards yesterday’s court ruling, adding that until he receives it he does not know the next line of action of the federation.
Justice Abang also ordered that the football federation executive committee members should appear in court as contemnors for failing to heed an earlier ruling restraining them from conducting elections into the football house as well as parading themselves as Nigeria’s football chiefs.
President of the national association of Nigerian Footballers, NANF, Harrison Jalla, filed a motion exparte on 7 January, 2011 to relist the suit no: FHC/L/CS/962/2010 earlier struck out on 10 October, 2010 due to an out of court settlement.
The suit was converted to motion on notice under the provisions of Order 26 Rule 10 of the court rules.
