The Trade Union  Congress (TUC), Rivers council, has expressed dissatisfaction on challenges of logistics in the ongoing voter registration.

The congress said that the shortage of the Direct Data Capture (DDC) machines and the fact that that some of them malfunctions, was a big challenge that  should be urgently addressed.

The state Chairman of the congress, Mr. Chika Onuegbu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Port Harcourt, that the logistics challenges had  posed a threat to the exercise.

He said that TUC was worried over the shortage of DDC machines, the poor performance of the Scanners/Power packs and the inadequate accommodation  arrangements for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) ad hoc team.

Onuegbu urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to urgently address the situation before it degenerates, adding that with these trends,  many people might not be able to register.

According to him, if the logistic challenges are not tackled, the registration period will have to be extended to ensure that all eligible Nigerians  registered.

The chairman, however, appealed to Nigerians to be patient and resilient on the challenges.

“To my fellow Nigerians, be resilient and ensure that you are registered,” he said.

He urged the people to report all observed irregularities to INEC, police, media, and Alliance for Credible Election.
