In its efforts to ensure all eligible commercial drivers and conductors are not left out in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise to enable them vote during the coming general election, the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Obalende/Ikoyi branch has held a seminar for all eligible drivers, conductors and all unit chairmen and their executives on the need to come out en masse and register.
The union urged them to ensure that they obtain their voters cards in the ongoing voters registration exercise which commenced on Saturday to enable them elect credible and trusted leaders who would bring dividends of democracy to their doorsteps.
The seminar was held a day to the take off of the registration exercise at Obalende motor park.
All the drivers and conductors parked their vehicles and trooped out to benefit from the voter cards registration exercise.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Obalende/Ikoyi branch Chairman, Comrade Femi Onasanya a.k.a Obele, Comrade Azu Oko, branch secretary, all the 18 unit chairmen and their executives.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS after the seminar, Comrade Azu Oko said, “as responsible and disciplined union members, we decided to hold a seminar to sensitise the drivers and conductors on the importance of voter cards to enable them vote for any candidate of their choice because the NURTW members in Obalende are democrats and educated. We also know the value of democracy.”
