NBBF Raps Sponsor In London

In its bid to take Nigeria basketball to higher heights, President of Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, Tijjani Umar says he will hold an important meeting with a would-be sponsor in London, United Kingdom today.  

The one day meeting with the potential investors, who are interested in Nigerian Basketball is being packaged by MD Sports Management. The meeting is scheduled to hold at the Air France Conference Centre, World Cargo Centre, Shoreham Road, Heathrow Airport, TW6 3RN.  

A board member of the federation, Yusuf Tagwai will join the President in the all important meeting. The duo that left the shores of the country yesterday morning for the meeting are expected back tomorrow for the 21-23, January 2011 Stakeholders’ meeting slated for the auditorium of the National Institute for Sports, NIS, Abuja.

Meanwhile, Head Coach of the Nation’s Under 19 National Women team, Adewumi Aderemi is expected to defend his programme submitted to the technical committee of the federation ahead the 2011 FIBA World Under 19 Championship for Women slated for Chile in July.

Although the technical committee Basketball Timeout gathered is satisfied with the programme submitted by the Coach popularly called “Owolo” and have recommended that the Federation should final discussion with the women’s cadet team coach on ways for successful implementation of the programme.

Nigeria picked one of the ticket to represent Africa at the FIBA World Under 19 Championship slated for South America country, Chile later this year after finishing second behind host, Egypt at the FIBA-Africa Championship for Under 18 Women held in Cairo, Egypt in 2010.  

Aderemi who is also the head coach of First Bank Basketball club will defend the programme in Abuja during the 3 days stakeholders meeting.
