Members of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Ifako/Ijaiye Federal Constituency have appealed to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to prevail on some leaders of the party in the state who are bent on imposing an unpopular aspirant on the people in coming House of Representatives election in the constituency.

The people, including market women, youth groups, community leaders and party stalwarts, said some leaders of the party in the state are involved in activities that could rubbish the effort of Tinubu in growing ACN in the area, state and the nation at large.

The groups, such as Ifako E Fura, Concerned Citizens of Ojokoro, Ifako/Ojokoro Youth Forum and Ifako Elders Forum on Sunday in Lagos said they recognised the contributions of Asiwaju Tinubu in the party, but that some state leaders were taking steps that could harm the party in the area.

In their reactions to the Thursday primaries of the party to choose candidates to contest the coming National Assembly elections, they opposed moves to foist an unpopular person on the party in the area.

According to Yemi Sunday of the Concerned Citizens of Ojokoro, “What we need is a person that is a grassroots mobiliser, who is accessible and who is vibrant. What imposition of candidate did to us in the last dispensation was zero representation and dividends of democracy not getting to the people.”

Speaking in a similar manner, Mrs. Agnes Ojo of Ifako E Fura, opined that the constituency was the second largest in the state in terms of voting strength and that nothing should be done to lose such vital area.

She called on Tinubu to set up a team to independently assess the aspirants in the area.

Among the aspirants are Adeola Adefolabi, Rasheed Makinde and Michael Ogunnusi.
