In his acceptance speech, Mohammed Abacha dedicated his victory to God and his party men, while pleading with other contestants to join hands with him so as  to ensure victory for the party, at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.

“We have an Herculean challenge before us and all we need to do now is to bury the hatchet and see how we can move the party forward so that the people of  Kano can restore confidence in us. CPC is a party to beat in the state and we all have a duty to make it work,” Abacha said.

The chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Dan Azumi Gwarzo in his reaction described the governorship primaries as “free, fair and transparent,” adding  that though there were little hiccups, “they were immediately addressed.”
