Nigeria football idol, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha is happy with his new job as a member of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF’s, Technical Committee.
The former skipper of the Super Eagles, who has been explaining the reasons behind his shock decision to accept the appointment, said his new role in Nigerian football is a welcome development.
Okocha had previously refused to attend meetings of the committee prompting chairman, Chris Green to declare that “his appointment had been rescinded.â€
Jay Jay, however, made a dramatic u-turn on Tuesday and attended the latest meeting of the technical committee.
This came just a day after he was elected into the executive committee of the Delta State Football Association.
The former Bolton Wanderers’ captain has been promptly installed the technical committee’s scouting chief.
“I am happy with this development. I have always wanted to contribute my quota to the development of the game in Nigeria and this represents a good opportunity to do that,†Okocha told SuperSport.com. Okocha played 75 times for Nigeria netting 15 goals.
