Musa Cup: Glory Coach Relishes Team’s Success

Chief Coach of Glory Football Club of Ikotun, Kunle Adeogun, is grateful to the team for winning the Senator Muniru Muse U-12 Cup.

Glory FC defeated Joker Stars Football Club of Ikotun 2-1 in the final match watched by a large crowd at the Campos Sports Centre, Lagos Island.

The two goals were scored by Nikama Chinedu before Jokers goalie, Toheeb Quadri, converted a penalty kick to reduce the tally in the 85th minute.

Adeogun, told GSG that he was not surprised that his team won the cup, boasting that their opponents were not equal to the task.

“We controlled the game from the blast of whistle till the end, which paved way for our victory,” Adeogun said.

Adeogun who was delighted with the performance of his young lads promised to defend the title in the next edition.

He said the club are ready to win more laurels before this year runs out.

In his own comment, Joker Stars coach, Taiwo Adewunmi, commended the performance of the two finalists, but confessed that his club were not at their best throughout the final match.

“We lost to a better side. It was not a good start for us in the new year but we need to go back to the drawing board and inject new players into the team for subsequent competitions,” he said.

The cup donor, Senator Muse, expressed satisfaction over the performance of the two teams, saying that the better side won the encounter.

“It was an interesting encounter and the two teams proved their worth. The match showed that the future of Nigerian football is very bright if the administrators can embark on   developmental programmes,” said Muinru, who is representing Lagos central senatorial seat in  the Senate.

Glory FC went home with the sum of N100, 000 and  a  trophy, while the first runners up received N50, 000.
