The crisis in Awuwo-Odofin Local Government in Lagos State, South-West Nigeria, has deepened with the abduction of a council worker by unidentified men, P.M.NEWS can reveal.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the council worker who is also a politician in the Local Government, Mr. Okoni, was abducted in his house in Festac on Monday and nobody  knew his whereabouts up till this morning.

“Thugs invaded his house and kidnapped him. We have not seen him since he was kidnapped. Since Monday, we have not seen him and his relatives do not know  where he is,” a council worker told P.M.NEWS last night.

“We don’t know if he is alive or not,” the source added.

The source said that when the impeached chairman was still at the helm of affairs, he did not carry the council members along and this led to series of  crises.

“Even the current chairman was only a figurehead. He was a lone ranger. He did not carry others along and that’s what cost him his office,” the source said.

Comrade Ayodele Adewale was impeached by the legislative arm of the Local Government, headed by the leader, Hon (Mrs) Omotayo.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the motion for impeachment was supported by Onimole Babatunde Yussuff, T.O Akindele, S.A. Akinsanya and Bello Olatunde.

Meanwhile, the newly sworn-in Chairman of the council, Alhaja Quderat Dada, told P.M.NEWS that she is fully in charge of the council, despite a suspension  order placed on her and five councillors.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS in the council on Tuesday, she said she did not receive any letter from the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, or the Lagos State House  of Assembly regarding the impeachment of the former Chairman of the council, Comrade Ayodele Adewale.

“The council is secure and my immediate plan is to meet the market women, party leaders, citizens and others. The Secretariat is calm. So, there is no cause  for alarm,” Dada said.
