Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has thanked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Ambassador Aminu Wali-led Presidential Screening Committee for the clearance to contest the PDP presidential primaries billed for Thursday.
In a statement by his Campaign Oganisation, the former Vice President said that the ruling party has by this decision shown clearly that the PDP is set to reinvent itself in line with the visions of its founding fathers.
He said that his clearance is a vindication of his democratic struggles, honour and integrity, vision and experience.
“I have been vindicated by my clearance. It is obvious to all discerning party faithful and the generality of Nigerians that all the mudslinging against my person could not stand unbiased scrutiny,†he said.
He urged the PDP delegates to vote in like manner for his candidature, which is predicated on huge experience, vision, tenacity of purpose and commitment to the Nigerian project.
Stressing that he is never shy of a contest, the former Vice President insisted that he will demystify the much-talked about incumbency factor in tomorrow’s primaries.
Atiku, however, called on PDP to remain united in the common pursuit of the goal to have the party retain the presidency.
“A free and fair contest such as I envisage tomorrow can only make us better ahead of the general elections,†he said.
He also congratulated his co-aspirants in the race.
