Lagos PDP Ticket: Kamson, Pedro Slug It Out

Among the nine contestants for the governorship ticket of the People’s Democratic Party in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, the delegates are currently considering two major contenders Tokunboh Kamson and Femi Pedro.

Some of the other contestants include Babatunde Gbadamosi, Ade Dosunmu and Owolabi Salis.

Though the party’s primaries for the nomination of its flag bearer was yet to commence at press time, this afternoon, delegates from across Lagos State  gathered at the 10 Degrees Events Centre, Billings Way, Oregun, Ikeja, venue of the event.

Security operatives were at strategic points trying to maintain peace.

Most of the delegates explained that they were confident that the battle for the ticket will be between Kamson and Pedro, because of their knowledge of politics and administration. Pedro is former Lagos State deputy governor who was impeached in 2007 barely few days to the end of the adminstration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

At the venue of the primary, Femi Pedro’s campaign posters were displayed everywhere. The delegates were also given yards of locally made fabrics popularly called Ankara.

Some of the contenders were also seen strategizing with the delegates. The situation also provided business women with the opportunity to make brisk money as they sold drinks and other products at double the normal market price.

While a sachet of water sold for N10, bottled water sold for N100 as well as can drinks that also sold for between N180 and N200.
