Warri Wolves coach, Paul Aigbogun, says his lads did a great job by registering a “hard fought†win over Ocean Boys in Wednesday’s rescheduled Nigeria Premier League, NPL, game. Efe Yahere’s 65th minute strike made the difference between two evenly matched sides at the Warri City Stadium as the home side held on for all three points.
The win, Wolves’ second in 72 hours catapulted them to 2nd on the NPL log. Aigbogun says good results must be consistent as the side seeks to move further up the table.
“First, I want to congratulate the boys because it was a difficult game. Ocean Boys played well but we held on in the end,†Aigbogun told SuperSport.com.
The coach with Uefa A and B Uefa licences is sure the side will slowly but surely return to the summit of the league, a position they held before suffering an inexplicable dip in form.
The league is tough, very tough and as soon as you suffer a few bad results, you could slide down the table, but we will try to get points in our subsequent matches, especially away from home,†said Aigbogun who has a mixed parentage (Nigerian father and Irish mother).
Meanwhile Ocean Boys’ goalie, Femi Thomas, says Wolves were very lucky to have claimed all the three points at the expense of his club on Wednesday.
“They know it. They were lucky and certainly not better than us. We dominated the game and should have won by two clear goals. We will take heart . We are on the right path,†Thomas told SuperSport.com. Ocean Boys are 18th on the log with 8 points from 8 matches.
