Popular comedian, Francis Agoda otherwise known as I Go Dye, is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital after he was battered by some soldiers  during President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign for former governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan in Warri, Delta State, on Tuesday.

I Go Dye, together with his colleagues, I Go Save and Oguns Baba, were allegedly brutalised by some military personnel led by one Colonel B. A. Mohammed at  the Warri Stadium, when they were about to mount the stage to perform.

P.M.Entertainment gathered that trouble started when I Go Dye was called on stage by Ali Baba, who was the anchor of the event. And on his way to the stage,  he was prevented by the soldiers, while efforts to introduce himself and his colleagues to the soldiers fell on deaf ears.

According to the comedian, “while I was trying to explain things to them, the officer pushed me backwards and I fell on the ground. And before I could get  up, the younger officers had descended on me and my colleagues.”

The show of shame, however, prompted other artistes at the event venue including Ali Baba, to stage a walkout.

I go Dye, however, said that he has already informed his lawyer to take legal action against the Nigerian Army unless they send a written apology within  seven days.

“The soldiers beat me blue and black and I have instructed my lawyer to file a suit against the Nigerian Army unless they apologise in writing within seven  days,” he stated.

Also confirming the incident were the Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe-Damijo and Ali Baba, who described it as the height of  callousness.

“Yes, there was an unfortunate incident but we settled it amicably. People did not even notice it. The officer was remorseful but couldn’t apologise  publicly,” Damijo stated.
